State President meets Francophone leaders

VTV.vn - On the occasion of the 16th Francophone Summit, State President Tran Dai Quang met with leaders of several French-speaking countries, including Senegal, the Ivory Coast, Mauritius, Switzerland and Serbia.

At the meeting with Senegal President Macky Sall, the two countries agreed that there is a great potential for cooperation in trade, agriculture and fishery. President Macky Sall said that Senegal wants to learn about rice growing and agriculture from Vietnam.

During the meeting with Prime Minister of Ivory Coast Alassane Ouattara, State President Tran Dai Quang stressed the country's role as Vietnam's second biggest trade partner in Africa.

On his side, Prime Minister Alassane Ouattara said that the Ivory Coast wants to boost cooperation in agriculture, especially in cacao production.

Meanwhile, at the meeting with Mauritius Prime Minister Anerood Jugnauth, the two sides expressed hope for further collaboration in trade and investment.

State President Tran Dai Quang also met with Swiss President Johann Schneider-Ammann. The Swiss President said that the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement is progressing and expressed a wish to visit Vietnam when the two countries sign this agreement.

Also on the same day, Serbian first Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic invited State President Tran Dai Quang to visit Serbia and affirmed that the country is willing to cooperate with Vietnam in international forums.
