VTV.vn - The Belt and Road Forum for International Co-operation took place in Beijing, China from May 14 to May 15.

The Vietnamese delegation led by President Tran Dai Quang attended the Leader Roundtable on Monday along with leaders from 28 other nations.

 At the roundtable, Chinese President Xi Jinping urged major multilateral institutions to join his new Belt and Road Initiative, to promote peace, stability and development. Speaking at the meeting, State President Tran Dai Quang said Vietnam welcomes regional connectivity, and the Belt and Road initiative. He emphasised that co-operation within the framework needs to be linked to the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and existing regional and global frameworks for co-operation. The forum concluded with the release of a joint statement affirming member nations' responsibility in promoting peace, co-operation, compliance with United Nations' charter and international law, improve life quality, and create a community of peace and prosperity
