State President attends APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting
VTV.vn - State President Truong Tan Sang arrived in Manila on Tuesday to attend the Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) 2015.

On the same day, State President Truong Tan Sang kick-started his activities by attending the 23rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, the most important event on the agenda. More details as followed.

Attracting nearly 1,200 leading business representatives in the Asia Pacific region, the APEC 2015 CEO Summit is aimed at opening dialogues for regional enterprises to discuss and suggest recommendations to APEC leaders. President Truong Tan Sang was the only senior leader to be invited to attend and he gave a speech at the event. According to the State President, it takes 3 conditions to ensure sustainable growth for the Asia-Pacific area.

"First, we should prioritise poverty eradication and sustainable development as well as narrow the gap between nations. Economic growth must go along with ensuring the rights of vulnerable populations so that no one is left behind. Secondly, we should improve the welfare of people through boosting education, science and technology and agriculture. Thirdly, we should enhance partnerships on a global scale, strengthen links between regions and sub-regions in all sectors, including fighting climate change." - Truong Tan Sang, Vietnamese State President.

Talking with CEOs, State President Truong Tan Sang spoke about Vietnam’s economic potential, highlighting that the country is now reforming its legal framework and business environment to welcome more investors. To host APEC in 2017, he added that Vietnam will continue to work hand in hand with APEC members to stimulate inclusive and sustainable growth. With the theme of "Creating the future: Better, Stronger, Together", the APEC 2015 CEO Summit united leading CEOs and policy-makers to resolve regional development challenges.
