The poverty line is currently 31.15 USD per capita per month in rural areas and 40.05 USD in urban areas; the five basic social services include healthcare, education, housing, clean water and hygiene, and information.
The standard serves as a foundation for monitoring income and social services access of the Vietnamese people to help better address poverty reduction and other socio-economic policies for the 2016-2020 term.
