One of the most remarkable highlights of the start-up community in 2016 was the 'Project to Boost the Creative and Innovative Start-Up Habitat in Vietnam'. Approved by the Prime Minister, around 600 creative start-ups will receive support or participate in mergers and acquisitions with a budget worth 87.8 million USD.
At Techfest 20 16, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam recognized start-ups to be the steering mechanism of the economy into the future. Over the past year, the Vietnamese government approved a package of fresh initiatives aimed at paving the way for the boom in technology start-ups including providing legal and financial support for an estimated 2,600 start-up companies across the country over the next 10 years.
The government is expected to launch an online portal that will keep start-ups updated about technologies, policies and funding.
