The Khmer-Vietnam Association in Cambodia (KVA) solemnly organised a ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and national reunification in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The ceremony was not only an opportunity for the Vietnamese community in Cambodia to reflect on the nation’s glorious history but also an affirmation of the enduring friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu emphasised the significance of the great spring victory of 1975, while expressing sincere gratitude to international friends, including the Cambodian people.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia highly commended the KVA leadership for organising the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and national reunification.
Sharing his thoughts at the ceremony, KVA Chairman Sim Chy emphasised that the image of the liberation flag flying atop the Independence Palace 50 years ago has become an immortal symbol of the Vietnamese people’s resilience, indomitable will, and desire for peace.
According to Sim Chy, the overseas Vietnamese community in Cambodia also made significant contributions to the April 30 victory. These quiet yet meaningful contributions helped write the heroic epic of the Vietnamese nation.
He affirmed that Vietnam’s peace and national independence are invaluable achievements that must be preserved through wisdom, patriotism and continuous effort.
