VTV.vn - Some countries in Southeast Asia have recently seen complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For example, Laos' capital city of Vientiane entered its first day of lockdown on Thursday to prevent the spread of the second outbreak. In addition to setting up checkpoints at the entrances into the city, the Lao Ministry of Health has also accelerated the progress of taking samples for high-risk populations in Vientiane.

Meanwhile, the Cambodian Ministry of Health on the same day announced 446 new COVID-19 cases, 331 of which in the capital city Phnom Penh. This is also where most of nearly 30 markets in the country that have been closed are concentrated.

The Cambodian government is putting all efforts to prevent the spread of the disease.

In Thailand, 7 new deaths were recorded on Thursday morning over the past 24 hours. This is the highest number of deaths per day in the country since the beginning of the pandemic. Thailand has recorded a total number of over 48,000 cases. In response, the Thai government has decided to apply a new series of tighter prevention measures until 2 May.
