Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam announced at a meeting held yesterday that he will not allow the Son Tra project to go over the scale limit of 1600 rooms.
The city of Da Nang initially approved 18 projects with over 5,000 rooms on the peninsula. However, this number was reduced to 1,600 in a plan issued in February this year.
Furthermore, the Danang Tourism Association requested that the government further lower the figure down to 300 rooms. The Deputy PM has given the city an August 30 deadline to consider their options and come up with a final decision.
