On Monday, two containers of 40 tonnes of export-quality longan were shipped from the province's Sông Mã district.
The longans are currently being sourced from a total of 14 longan cooperatives in the vicinity. The cooperatives are subject to quality monitoring in order to meet VietGap standards. The selling price of longan from the cooperatives is currently at around 12,000 VND or roughly 52 cents per kilogram, compared to the market's current average of 21 to 30 cents per kilo.
