Single-use plastics bags banned in Australia

VTV.vn - Single-use plastic bag ban came into effect in Queensland, Australia on Monday. Retailers are not allowed to supply single-use and lightweight plastic bags, which are less than 35 microns thick.

In addition to Queensland, Victoria is also expected to issue this ban, which will come into effect in 2019. Earlier, Woolworths and Coles, two major Australian retailers, stopped suppluing plastic bags.

Each year, Australia exports about 1.3 million tons of recyclables to China. However, as China stops its import of recyclable waste, many states in Australia are struggling to address this issue.
