Shrimp exports to Vietnam's main markets have all decreased by 25–50%, with the US and EU experiencing the deepest declines at 44% and 49%, respectively. Shrimp exports to China also decreased by 25%.
However, it is forecast that shrimp exports to China and the United States will improve in the last few months of the year.
Demand in the US market is expected to increase as shrimp harvests from other countries decrease. Additionally, shrimp importers have increased their purchasing power for the year-end season.
The Chinese market remains a potential market for Vietnam, but according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), it will take more time for the industry to adjust its consumption habits.
