The Russian National Orchestra (RNO) will perform at Ho Guom Theatre in Hanoi on October 12 – 13 during the Vietnam Airlines Classic – Hanoi Concert (VACC 2024), the organiser said on June 27.
The programme, to be jointly held by Vietnam Airlines, the People’s Committee of Hanoi and Thanh Viet Production, will be part of celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the capital city’s Liberation Day (October 10, 1954-2024).
According to Vietnam Airlines Deputy General Director Dang Anh Tuan, on the first night, the RNO will perform the Vietnamese National Anthem and classic music under the direction of conductor César Álvarez from Spain, one of the most respected conductors currently. The performance will have the participation of Russian - Armenian piano soloist Eva Gevorgyan.
The second night of the show on October 13 will feature some ballet excerpts performed by principal dancers from the Bolshoi Theatre.
Musician Quoc Trung, General Director of the programme, said that this year, instead of being held outdoor like previous years, the VACC will be organised at the Ho Guom Theatre, which is honoured by the World Travel Awards as one of the top 10 best opera houses in the world, promising audience a special concert with top experiences and unforgettable impression.
The RNO was founded in Moscow in 1990 by conductor Mikhail Pletnev. Over the past 30 years, the orchestra has achieved international fame and public recognition, becoming the embodiment of Russian musical traditions. In 2004, the orchestra became the first in the history of Russia to receive a Grammy Award. Gramophone -the most prestigious music magazine in Europe - named this orchestra among 20 best orchestras in the world.
First held in 2017, Vietnam Airlines Classic is the first outdoor classical concert in Vietnam with the participation of the London Symphony Orchestra - a famous international symphony orchestra.
