Road to Olympia Mount: Quoc Hoc Hue's Shoolboy Wins a Spot in the First Quarter Final

The February 2025 monthly competition of the Road to Olympia Mount is a race among four contestants: Le Quang Duy Khoa (Specialized High School Quoc Hoc Hue – Thua Thien Hue), Vu Viet Hoang (Song Cong High School – Thai Nguyen), Nguyen Bao Gia Linh (Specialized High School of Social Sciences & Humanities – Hanoi), and Ngo Xuan Mai (Tu Ky High School – Hai Duong).

Viet Hoang was the first contestant to enter the Individual Warm-Up Round. Calm before the questions, the schoolboy from Thai Nguyen scored his first 30 points. Meanwhile, Xuan Mai scored 20 points, Duy Khoa had 40 points, and Gia Linh was unlucky, not answering any questions.

After 12 questions in the General Warm-Up Round, Duy Khoa was the contestant who continuously gained the right to answer and  answered   the questions correctly. After this round, Gia Linh still had no points, Xuan Mai had 25 points, Viet Hoang had 40 points, and Duy Khoa was in the lead with 80 points.

This week’s Overcome Obstacle Round consisted of 11 letters. After the first horizontal row was revealed, Viet Hoang and Duy Khoa both provided the correct answer. As soon as the first image was unveiled, these two contestants quickly pressed the button to answer. Although Duy Khoa was quicker and gave the answer "Rectangle", Viet Hoang's answer "Red Flag with Yellow Star" turned out to be correct.

Viet Hoang shared that he had seen this image around 1-2 years ago, so when he saw the first angle of the picture, he boldly rang the bell. Duy Khoa mentioned that he felt that Viet Hoang was about to press it, so even though he wasn’t sure, the Hue student decided to take a chance.

As soon as the first row is revealed, the contestants quickly rings the bell to claim the right to answer the question.

Viet Hoang then took the lead with 110 points after this round, followed by Duy Khoa with 90 points, while Gia Linh and Xuan Mai's scores remained unchanged.

The Speed-up Round can make a big difference in a  contestant's score. After answering the first two questions correctly and quickly, Duy Khoa regained the lead. In the third question, Gia Linh was the only one to answer correctly, earning his first 40 points.

After securing the first points, Gia Linh gains more confidence.

At the end of the round, Duy Khoa had 190 points, closely followed by Viet Hoang with 180 points. Meanwhile, the gap between the two girls was narrow, with Gia Linh having 50 points and Xuan Mai having 55 points.

The first contestant to enter the Finish Round was Duy Khoa, the current leader. Calm and confident, the schoolboy from Quoc Hoc Hue answered all three questions correctly,  bringing his score to 250 points. The second contestant to  reach the Finish Round was Viet Hoang, who answered 2 out of 3 questions correctly, bringing his score up to 200 points. Xuan Mai entered the Finish Round with 75 points, while Gia Linh ended his journey with 50 points.

After four rounds, the contestants’ scores were as follows: Gia Linh had 50 points, Xuan Mai had 95 points, Viet Hoang had 200 points, and Duy Khoa led with 270 points.

Thus, the winner of the February Monthly Competition and the first finalist for the First Quarter Final of Road to Olympia Mount 25 is Le Quang Duy Khoa, a student from Quoc Hoc Hue Specialized High School Quoc Hoc Hue. If Viet Hoang achieves the highest second-place score in the Quarter, he will have the opportunity to face Duy Khoa again in the upcoming match.
