Thao Dan was not born lucky like many others. Her mother gave birth prematurely at just seven months, weighing only 1.2 kilograms. As a result, Thao Dan's vision gradually faded, and by the time she was one year old, she lost all of her sight. Thanks to the love and support of her family, Thao Dan was able to study Braille at Nguyen Dinh Chieu School, where she learned the value of friendship and sharing and found the motivation to keep going.
Throughout her educational journey, Thao Dan often faced moments of sadness and loneliness due to her differences. However, it was during these challenging times that she was inspired to think about her future, her dreams, and her aspirations to overcome adversity and become a person of value.
The Passion for Music: A Flame that Illuminates Life
Music has become Thao Dan’s closest companion. For her, singing is not only a spiritual balm that helps her through difficult days, but also the primary means by which she shares her story with the world.
After years of persistent practice, Thao Dan passed the entrance exam for the Intermediate Vocal Department at the Vietnam National Academy of Music. Here, she learned not only how to sing but also how to transform deep emotions into a powerful force to spread love to others.
A memorable milestone in Thao Dan's journey was her participation in the production and performance of a song in her music video. "Music has lifted meup and helped g me move through my sadness. Music is like a little sun that dispels the darkness", Thao Dan shared.
In the Station of Love program, viewers will enjoy a performance by Thao Dan. Her emotionally charged voice is not only a testament to her extraordinary resilience but also carries a message of love for life and people.
Happiness is Sharing and Loving
Thao Dan was not only focused on changing herself, but on how visually impaired children could attend school, learn to read and write, and integrate into society. She started teaching Braille and passing on skills to blind children. Realizing her value, Thao Dan became even more determined to contribute and do meaningful work for the community. This drive led her to put aside her dream of becoming a singer. After completing her intermediate studies at the Vietnam National Academy of Music, Thao Dan continued to apply for the Social Work Department at the Vietnam Youth Academy.
Currently, Thao Dan is an active member of the Hanoi Blind Association in Dong Da District. There, she not only supports the work of the association but also teaches Braille and vocational skills to blind youth. Thao Dan firmly believes that a disabled person can only change his or her life if he or she has the knowledge, skills, and confidence to live independently.
In addition, Thao Dan actively participates in charity activities, such as blood donation and organizing vocational training classes. Through these contributions, she hopes that many disabled people will have the opportunity to rise up and find light in their lives.
Inspiring Encounters on the Station of Love Program
The Station of Love program, themed "Walking Under the Sunlight" will take viewers through various stages of Nguyen Thao Dan's life via interactive activities and an emotionally charged conversation. The program will also feature Mr. Tran Van Hoan, Chairman of the Hanoi Blind Association in Dong Da District, who has accompanied Thao Dan in her workand shared special stories about her in both her professional and personal life.
A meaningful gift will be presented during the program as a tribute to Thao Dan's unwavering efforts and the love she has spread.
Nguyen Thao Dan's story, Station of Love wishes to send a message to everyone: "In the darkness, we can still find light if we know how to love and share".
