Renowned violinist Stephane Tran Ngoc to return Vietnam for HCMC concert

VTV.vn - The celebrated Vietnamese-French violin soloist Stephane Tran Ngoc will return to Vietnam to perform a concert at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on May 9.

Born in Paris, France, Stephane Tran Ngoc has toured more than 30 countries around the world and has performed as soloist with some of Europe’s finest orchestras.

Ngoc graduated with a 1st in violin and chamber music from the Paris National Superior Conservatory of Music at the age of 15. He later travelled to the United States to study at Brooklyn College’s Conservatory of Music and graduated with a Master’s Degree before pursuing a Professional Studies diploma and a Doctorate of Musical Art at New York’s The Juilliard School.

Ngoc has also been highly recognised as a pedagogue, holding a position as one of the youngest violin teachers at the highest level in France at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon for several years.

Ngoc was last seen performing in Ho Chi Minh City in July 2017, he astonished audiences with virtuoso demonstrations of his brilliant technique in the extraordinary performance of two works, the first a deeply introspective piece by J.S. Bach, and the second a manically extrovert piece by Paganini.

At the May 9 concert, Ngoc will take to the stage with performances of Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 1 and Elgar’s Serenade for Strings. The concert will take place under the baton of music director of the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera, Tran Vuong Thach.

The show's curtains will be raised at 8 pm, May 9, at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House, 7 Cong Truong Lam Son Street, Ben Nghe ward, District 1. Tickets to the concert range in price from VND 80,000 to VND650,000.
