Moderate-to-heavy rain is forecast to pour down in the northeast and northern mountainous areas of Vietnam from Sunday evening as typhoon Mujigae made landfall in the north of China’s Leizhou Peninsula in the afternoon.
According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the storm will hit Hai Phong city and Quang Ninh on Monday, and bring torrential rain of 300-500 mm to northern provinces.
At a recent online meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai asked rescue workers to be ready for emergencies and issue a ban on all vessels going offshore if the storm comes too close.
