The event was part of activities to mark Vietnam Family Day (June 28).
According to Ra Glai custom, young couples, who have been married for 3-5 years, have to take rituals to express their filial piety to their parents. They consider this ceremony as a common festival of the whole community.
Before the ceremony, the chidren ask permission from their parents and others in the family to take their mother to their house and prepare the gifts, such as a suit, a necklace, a scarf, a bowl of water and a meal (consisting of two chickens, a pig and a jar of wine). Then they will give a new set of clothes, wear necklaces and rings and pick up the best food for their mother.
The maintenance of filial piety will contribute to educating generations of Ra Glai people as well as preserving and promoting the unique cultural identities of the Vietnamese people.
