Yesterday, hot weather scorched northern and central localities, with the most suffering were northern-central provinces from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri, with highest temperatures reaching from 37-39C.
Today, June 30, both regions continue to be baked in the extreme heat, with provinces from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri seeing highest temperatures at over 39C.
The Red River Delta and central provinces are forecast to have low humidity of 30-50% today, while the time with temperatures of above 35C lasting from 10-18 hours.
Hanoi’s highest common temperature today ranges from 35-37C, even over 37C in some places.
However, the prolonged heat wave is likely to last until July 1 in the North and Thanh Hoa Province, while it will begin subsiding in the northern-central provinces from July 3.
The intense heat increases the risk of fire and explosion in residential areas due to increased demand for electricity, as well as high risk of forest fires in the Northern and Central provinces. In addition, the heat can cause dehydration, exhaustion and heat stroke due to prolonged exposure to high temperatures.
Meanwhile, downpours are forecast in the north-western mountainous area, south-central area and Central Highlands, as well as in Hanoi, from the evening of June 30. From July 1 to 4, heavy rains will tend to increase in the northern provinces and Thanh Hoa Province.
