Quang Tri Industrial Park will cover about 500 hectares in Hai Lang District.
The project is expected to give a strong boost to Quang Tri’s socio-economic development and create an economic hub along the east-west economic corridor linking Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar.
The first stage of the project costs 500 billion VND (21.3 million USD) and is being implemented by a consortium of VSIP-Amata-Sumitomo during the 2021-2025 period on an area of 96.1 hectares.
To date, more than 74% of the land for the first stage has been cleared.
Speaking at a conference on May 10, investors asked Quang Tri to complete site clearance of the remaining land no later than June 2023 and soon issue a support policy for management, operation and maintenance costs.
They also called for the establishment of a customs branch in Hai Lang District to provide customs services for enterprises.
For his part, Quang Tri Deputy Secretary Nguyen Dang Quang said preparations for starting work on the project have been fundamentally completed.
However, some obstacles remain in relation to site clearance that need to be resolved by the end of June.
He asked the provincial departments, agencies and localities to work closely together to help investors complete legal procedures related to the project in order to accelerate its implementation.
