Quang Tri flood warning
VTV.vn - Storm Damrey that hit Vietnam on November 4 had claimed 69 lives and left 30 people missing in central and Central Highlands localities by Tuesday afternoon.

Heavy rain continued in central provinces from yesterday, causing water levels in the rivers to increase. In Quang Tri Province, many localities have been inundated, causing difficulties for local people.

Heavy rain has continued in Quang Tri. Rainfall in the locality from Monday to Tuesday reached over 500 mm in mountainous areas and over 200mm in localities bordering Thua Thien - Hue Province.

Water levels in the Thach Han and O Lau rivers have continued rising. People in Hai Lang District are now facing the risk of heavy floods.

With the current weather situation, Quang Tri's authorities of all levels have issued emergency relief plans, especially if flooding occurs during the night.

“We've directed soldiers, police and border guard forces to be ready in case of incidents”, Mai Thuc – Vice Chairman of Quang Tri People’s Committee – said.

Heavy rain after Storm Damrey has also caused landslides, erosion and blocked routes in mountainous areas.

Local people have been advised to keep a close watch on the flood situation to gear up for prolonged widespread flooding and also ensure basic supplies for flood victims and the safety of reservoirs.
