VTV.vn - A volunteer delegation from the United States’ Project Vietnam Foundation are due to arrive in Ho Chi Minh City in March 2020 to provide children with free surgery to fix cleft lip and palate deformities.

The Project Vietnam Foundation plan to organise a program to conduct free surgeries for children who suffer from cleft lip and palate deformities from June 1 to June 3, 2020. The operations will be on offer to disadvantaged children from across the country.

The Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital in Tan Binh district of Ho Chi Minh City will be hosting the program.

Before operations can be offered, the volunteer mission will provide medical check-ups on March 1, 2020. Surgeries will then be conducted between June 2 and June 3, 2020.

In order to ensure safety for those having surgery, pediatric cleft patients must be at least six months old and weigh at least six kilos. Moreover, children suffering from cleft palate must be at least 12 months old and weigh at least 12kilos.

Parents are being advised to register for the charity surgery program before February 22, 2020 via email by contacting motuthien@projectvietnam.org . Alternatively, parents can call 093 807 8284 and leave a voicemail message.
