He lauded the US leaders’ cooperation in dealing with war consequences in Vietnam such as the dioxin detoxification at Bien Hoa airport. He proposed that the two countries further facilitate their bilateral trade and investment ties, and satisfactorily address their concerns for the benefit of their people.
Vice President Pence stressed that the US supports a strong, independent, and prosperous Vietnam, and stands ready to cooperate on matters that concern both countries. The Vice President thanked the Vietnamese Government and people for their assistance to the US in searching for and repatriating the remains of US servicemen that had been missing in action during the war in Vietnam.
He also highlighted common interests such as maintaining peace, stability, security, safety, and freedom of navigation and aviation, and respecting international law in the Indian and Pacific Ocean.
