ASEAN leaders agree to keep stability in the East Sea

VTV.vn - At the general session of the 33rd ASEAN Summit that took place in Singapore on November 13th, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc and other ASEAN leaders agreed that the bloc needs to work harder on creating a favourable environment for dialogue, cooperation, and mutual trust.

The Prime Minister expressed his support for the practice of international law. Accordingly, unilateral actions pose a risk of dispute. He also said ASEAN members are all committed to compliance with the United Nations Convention on Law of the Sea and refraining from the use of force.

With the same spirit, other ASEAN leaders agreed to work with China to build a code of conduct in the East Sea, and at the same time abide by the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea.
