The regiment was established at the beginning of 1947 with many soldiers coming from Hanoi. Starting in Moc Chau, the soldiers dispersed to battlefields in the north-western region of Vietnam and the northern region of Laos.
The soldiers' contributions and sacrifices played a significant role in the joint Vietnamese-Laotian victory against the French colonialists.
The prime minister's visit to the memorial site also coincided with the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Laos.
