VTV.vn - On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc paid respects to the fallen soldiers of the Tây Tiến Regiment of Moc Chau District, Son La Province.

The regiment was established at the beginning of 1947 with many soldiers coming from Hanoi. Starting in Moc Chau, the soldiers dispersed to battlefields in the north-western region of Vietnam and the northern region of Laos.

The soldiers' contributions and sacrifices played a significant role in the joint Vietnamese-Laotian victory against the French colonialists.

The prime minister's visit to the memorial site also coincided with the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Laos.
