Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visits flooded Hoi An

The UNESCO-recognised town will host some activities for the APEC Summit. Flood levels in the province have remained high.

In Hoi An, the water level on Monday had risen to 3.27m, similar to the historic flood levels of 1999 and 2009.

Visiting and encouraging families in the flood-hit areas, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc heard first-hand from the difficulties facing locals.

He urged the leaders of Quang Nam and Hoi An City to focus on helping locals to restore their livelihoods and to ensure that their children can go to school.

500 soldiers of the Military Region 5 and 130 soldiers of the provincial military command and police of Quang Nam province will be mobilised to clean the flooded areas of the city.
