Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that with trade turnover reaching over 50 billion US dollars, the US is the 3rd biggest trade partner of Vietnam. Consumers in the US enjoy fruits, footwear and other products from Vietnam. On the other side, Vietnam imports a considerable number of technological products and services from the US.
"When exporting a 100 US dollar Nike shoe manufactured in Vietnam to the US, Vietnamese enterprises only receive 22 US dollars for their production cost, while 50 US dollars go to US retailers. The remaining money also goes to the US, not Vietnam. Investors from the US are clever, they saw the benefits of investing in Vietnam", said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said many Vietnamese enterprises will sign purchase contracts worth billions of US dollars with American firms during the visit. He urged for more investment as many Vietnamese enterprises such as SHB and FPT have already invested tens of millions of US dollars in the US.
