The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Pham Binh Minh, Chairman of the Presidential Office, Dao Viet Trung, and representatives of the Presidential Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Following the handing-over ceremony, President Quang had a meeting with the newly-accredited ambassadors.
The State leader asked the ambassadors and heads of Vietnamese representative offices overseas to pay attention to reforming their working methods in order to serve the country’s sustainable development, and maintain national defence and security; as well as utilise the support of international friends for Vietnam’s construction and defence, and focus on research and analysis of the situation to propose solutions to the Party and State in order to deepen the country’s external relations.
He also highlighted the diplomats’ role in economic diplomacy, urging them to seek measures to diversify and expand the export markets for Vietnamese goods and attract high-quality foreign investment.
President Tran Dai Quang also reminded them that a regular task of the diplomats is to deal with issues related to the overseas Vietnamese communities abroad and emphasised that the OVs form an integral part of the nation.
