It’s been four years since Xoan singing were listed as part of world intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent protection. The foreign visitors coming to Phu Tho Province today were very excited to find out about this traditional style of singing.

Elaine Hartland, British visitor said: That was beautiful. It was lovely to see that you are keeping old traditions. I hope that some of the younger people will see how important this is.

Elaine Hartland and other international visitors were impressed by Xoan singing. The performing of Xoan singing has made a significant contribution to social cohesion, encouraging a sense of identity amongst the community.

After Xoan singing was internationally honoured, tourists and experts alike have visited Phu Tho Province to learn more about Xoan singing. These heritage experts have been working to ensure Xoan singing’s continued existence.

In recent years, Phu Tho province has implemented a lot of measures to preserve Xoan singing and this successful campaign has seen the genre escaping the need for urgent protection.
