According to the World Bank's wind map study, the capacity of installed wind power in Vietnam is up to 50 GigaWatts, which is 50 times the capacity of Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant.
Out of all the regions in Vietnam, the Mekong Delta is considered to be particularly advantageous for wind power. With a capacity of nearly 100 megawatts each month, 62 wind turbine cylinders provide over 16,000 megawatts per hour to the national grid.
The effectiveness of this project is becoming an interest for many localities in the region. The Ca Mau wind power project is about to start with a capacity of nearly 100 megawatts. In addition, wind power projects in Tra Vinh, Soc Trang have also been granted hundreds of wind turbine investment certificates for nearly 10 companies.
The advantages are there but in order to make the Mekong Delta become a wind power center, according to investors, great attention from the government is needed, not just the preferential policies of the local governments,
