VTV.vn - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc called on individuals, organisations, enterprises and good Samaritans to continue coming together to help the poor and Agent Orange victims at an event held by the Red Cross Society of Vietnam on January 18.

Over the past years, the Red Cross Society has launched many philanthropic programmes and movements which have received superb support and donations to continue its charitable works throughout the country.

Just ahead of the Lunar New Year, the Society presented more than 2.7 million Tet gifts to poor people and AO victims thanks to the kind sponsorship of good Samaritans.

PM Phuc said taking care of the disadvantaged is a fine Vietnamese tradition which has always been carried on and promoted by altruistic actions.

He praised the Red Cross Society’s charitable activities and thanked the individuals and organisations who have provided support for those who are less fortunate.

The head of government affirmed that the Party and State always pays close attention to the lives of poor people, underlining the consistent policy of bolstering economic growth aligned with enhancing the people’s standard of living so that no-one in society is left behind.

At the programme, the PM called on the people to send text messages to the national portal as a convenient way to make donations to support the poor.
