The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos and the Lao Defence Ministry announced at a press briefing on September 23 that the ten-day event would open at the Lao Military History Museum in Vientiane on September 26. After the exhibition, all the photos will be presented to the museum.
Addressing the event, Saisamone Salapseng, Director of the Department of Propaganda and Training at the Lao Ministry of National Defence, said the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail was a symbol of the Vietnam–Laos fighting alliance, which played a significant role in the liberation of the three Indochinese countries colonized by France, as well as the liberation and reunification of Vietnam.
The exhibition, jointly organised by the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos and the Lao Ministry of National Defence, is the first of a series of activities to mark the 60th anniversary of the West Truong Son Trail in 2021.
Nguyen Manh Hung, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos, said that nearly 100 photos would be put on display, vividly reflecting the hardships and fierce struggles experienced by the soldiers and civilians of both Vietnam and Laos in building and protecting the trail.
The trail was a monument to the great sacrifices and support the Lao people made and provided for Vietnam in its cause of national liberation and defence, Hung reaffirmed.
The ambassador expressed thanks to the General Political Departments of the two countries’ armies, the High Command of Truong Son Division, the Ho Chi Minh Trail Museum, the Association of Truong Son War Veterans and the Vietnam News Agency for their support in organising the exhibition.
