Phong Nha listed among top seven South East Asian national parks
VTV.vn - Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park has been rated by the ASEAN travel site GoAsean as one of seven national parks that travellers should visit in in Southeast Asia.

According to the travel site GoAsean, located in Quang Binh Province, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003. Phong Nha-Ke Bang has the most magnificent system of underground rivers in Southeast Asia. The national park is also home to some of the world’s most unique forms of flora and fauna, including hundreds of different species of birds.

Goasean said of the park, “It spans well over 800 square kilometers in area, and this means that you would probably need more than a day to experience its cavernous wonders.”

Famous for having over 300 caves and grottos, the park spans over 800 square kilometers in area. In April 2009, Son Doong Cave, one of the world’s largest caves, was discovered in Phong Nha-Ke Bang by a team of British cave explorers led by a local farmer.

Other national parks also on the list include the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in Indonesia, Gunung Mulu National Park in Malaysia, Doi Inthanon National Park in Thailand, Taman Negara in Malaysia; Khao Sok in Thailand and Komodo in Indonesia.
