It has also finished construction of an IP Strategy towards 2030 which has been submitted to the Prime Minister for promulgation.

The office has also carried out specific activities to make IP become more of a tool for socio-economic development, including granting nine certificates of registration of geographical indications and 280 certificates of collective trademark registration for specific local products in 2019.

Thanks to the synchronous application of various solutions, the number of applications processed in 2019 increased by 51.7% compared to 2018, of which, national brands increased by 67% and patents were up 48.7%. The number of industrial property protection certificates granted in 2019 increased by over 40% compared to 2018.

According to Phi, the programme on IP development has made an important contribution to promoting technological development and innovation activities, gradually creating an IP culture in the community. In the 2010-2020 period, the programme supported IP protection for 118 key local products, while supporting the establishment of 63 collective organisations to control and manage the protected products.

Currently, the NOIP is drafting a new programme on IP development for the 2021-2030 period to submit to the Minister of Science and Technology for the consultation of relevant ministries, agencies and localities, before submission to the Prime Minister for final approval.
