Communist Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong appreciated the efforts made by the Clintons to remove trade barriers and promote normal relations between the US and Vietnam during the past 20 years.
He also spoke highly of the Clinton Foundation’s role in helping reduce poverty, promote healthcare and environmental protection and deal with the aftermath of the American War in Vietnam.
Former President Clinton said the US respected and wanted to enhance ties with Vietnam. He also underlined the historic character of Communist Party General Secretary Trong’s forthcoming visit to the US.
