Issues tabled for discussion covered the personnel work of the 12th Party Central Committee, the numbers and allocation of delegates to the 12th congress, the organizational model of local administrations, the Long Thanh airport construction project, and reports on matters that were resolved after the 10th plenum.
In his speech, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong underscored the need to revamp draft documents for submission to the 12th congress with a major focus on the personnel plan in line with Party statute. Trong said that it is crucial to set up a Party Central Committee that can play the role of a political leading body with strong fighting spirit, as well as be a center of solidarity and consensus for the Party and the entire nation. He cited the importance of this task, explaining it could determine the future of the Party and the nation.
