At the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tri, on behalf of the Vietnamese community in Ukraine delivered a support fund of 200 million VND (or about 19 thousand USD). He said that overseas Vietnamese people in Ukraine wish to send support and share difficulties with the families of those who have sacrificed for the country, especially during the battles to protect the Spratly island in 1988 and Paracel island in 1974. To date, construction for the monument in Johnson South Reef is 80% completed and should be inaugurated in December this year.
