VTV.vn - The Vietnamese community in Russia has raised over 2 billion VND (81,433 USD) to support people suffering damage due to Typhoon Yagi and consequent flooding in the home country during just one week after launching a donation campaign.

Overseas Vietnamese in Russia handed over 1.5 billion VND to the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) on September 19. Previously, many local associations have transferred donations to the VFF such as the Vietnamese community in Ufa city donated 300 million VND and those working at the Teplyi Stan, Food City and KM41 shopping centres in Moscow contributed 47.2 million VND.

In recent days, the Vietnamese community in Russia has actively raised funds to send to the homeland as soon as possible to deliver to people in flood-affected areas with the hope that they will soon stabilise their lives.

Fund-raising activities to help compatriots in the country have always been a good tradition of the Vietnamese community in Russia for many years. Although living far away from the homeland, they always follow the situation in the country and make positive contributions to the homeland such as supporting natural disasters victims, donating specialised vehicles for rescue work of the Ministry of National Defence and contributing money to buy medicine for hospitals in Vietnam during COVID-19 pandemic prevention and combat.
