The authority said that airports to be affected also include Da Nang International Airport in Da Nang city, Phu Bai International Airport in Thua Thien-Hue province, Chu Lai Airport in Quang Nam province, and Vinh Airport in Nghe An province.
It asked the Airport Corporation of Vietnam to direct airports in areas forecast to be hit by the storm to coordinate with relevant agencies to examine the infrastructure systems and communication systems, ensuring their safe operation.
The authority also asked relevant agencies to regularly update meteorological information to promptly propose appropriate and safe utilisation plans.
The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation was directed to keep a close eye on weather developments and submit reports to the authority and the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Aviation Search and Rescue to decide on the operation at airports, while providing information to airports, airlines, and relevant agencies and units.
The CAAV requested airlines to proactively adjust their operation plans at Dong Hoi Airport and update their customers on the schedule changes.
Flight crews are advised to spare extra fuel reserves for flights to airports in the storm-affected area in case they have to wait and divert to alternate airports.
