VTV.vn - Overseas Vietnamese community in Laos hosted a ceremony at Phat Tich Pagoda in Vientiane on May 22, the 15th day of the fourth lunar month, to mark the Lord Buddha’s 2568th birthday (Vesak Day).

The event attracted the participation of Most Venerable Thich Minh Quang - head of the coordinating board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Laos and Phat Tich Pagoda - along with representatives of Vietnamese Embassy in Laos and Buddhist monks and followers living in Laos.

At the ceremony, Most Venerable Thich Minh Quang delivered a message from the VBS’s Supreme Patriarch, which called on to all Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns, and followers to stay united and support each other while making more contributions towards the preservation of traditional culture and national development.

Participants at the event joined the traditional ritual of bathing the Buddha, and prayed for peace, joy, and happiness for all humanity.

On the occasion, the organising board presented 150 gifts to disadvantaged Lao and Overseas Vietnamese people in Vientiane.
