The Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore held a get-together for overseas Vietnamese in the country to celebrate Tet.
Vietnamese Ambassador Tao Thi Thanh Huong applauded the active involvement of expats in the organisation’s activities, and thanked the local authorities for their support.
She called on Vietnamese expats to make greater effortsto preserve their national identity and to join in charitable movements to support others in difficult circumstances.
A similar event was held the UK, offering a chance for Vietnamese expats to gather and welcome Tet.
Addressing the event, Ambassador Tran Ngoc An updated participants on Vietnam’s achievements in 2019, noting that the country has continued to develop, ensurednational security-defence and social order, and promotedinternational integration.
He also highlighted the development of the relationship between Vietnam and the UK, which has been deepened in a practical manner. Two-way trade reached about US$7 billion in 2019.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Austria also hosted a meeting for overseas Vietnamese in the country.
Ambassador Le Dung wished overseas Vietnamese and international friends a successful and happy New Year. He also shared his hope that they will make more contributions to Vietnam-Austria relations.
He also lauded the efforts made by the Vietnamese community in Austria in promoting and preserving their national cultural identities, as well as their contributions to the homeland’s development.
Meanwhile, the Embassy of Vietnam in Israel held a similar event in Tel Aviv. Ambassador Do Minh Hung said that the bilateral ties have expanded and become more effective.
A meet up was also held for the Vietnamese community in Hong Kong (China), with various traditional dishes served at the event.
