On January 13, in Hai Duong City, Hai Duong Province, Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pham Binh Minh, attended a programme to give out Tet gifts to policy families, disadvantaged households and labourers in difficult circumstances on the occasion of the nation’s traditional Tet festival.
Speaking at the programme, Minh emphasised that the Party and State always pay special attention to policy families, people with meritorious services and the poor during the holidays and New Year festivals, under the policy of "leaving no one left behind." The Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the Vietnam Red Cross Society and other agencies have organised programmes to give out Tet gifts to help elevate the difficulties surrounding many families, ensuring that they enjoy a warm Tet holiday, the FM said.
At the event, the organisers offered over 800 Tet gifts and coach tickets to policy families, Agent Orange victims and disadvantaged workers.
* On the occasion of the upcoming Lunar Year of the Rat, on Tuesday morning, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh visited and presented gifts to physicians and patients at Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital and Thong Nhat Hospital, both in Ho Chi Minh City.

Conveying her Tet wishes to the medical staff and patients at both hospitals, Thinh expressed her hope that the hospitals would continue improving their quality of treatment, wishing patients, especially cancer patients, to remain optimistic and to quickly recover and return home soon to enjoy Tet with their families.
Earlier, on Monday afternoon, Vice President Thinh and her entourage gave Tet gifts to disadvantaged households, policy families and children in Duc Hoa District, Long An Province.
* On January 14 and 15, a National Assembly (NA) delegation led by NA Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien visited and presented Tet gifts to ethnic minorities and soldiers in Hum Bum Commune, Nam Nhun District, Lai Chau Province.
* From January 12 and 13, in Lao Cai Province, NA Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty presented Tet gifts to the provincial Fatherland Front, Military Command, Police, Border Guard Command, Muong Khuong Border Guard Station and Si Ma Cai Border Guard Station. He also gave 1,000 warm blankets and Tet gifts to highlanders in the province.
* Other Party and State leaders also joined missions to present Tet gifts to policy beneficiaries and workers in Cao Bang, Ninh Binh, Thai Nguyen, Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak provinces from January 10 to 14.

* On January 13, Da Nang City’s authorities handed over Great Unity houses and gave Tet gifts to the local ethnic communities in Hoa Vang District. The 14 houses in the resettlement area of Gian Bi Village, Hoa Bac Commune (Hoa Vang District) costed from VND300-500 million to build. The delegation awarded 369 Tet gifts to ethnic Co Tu people in Hoa Bac and Hoa Phu Communes (Hoa Vang District).
* On January 13, Nhan Dan Newspaper Representative Office in Binh Dinh Province joined the Military Command and the Command of the Border Guard of Binh Dinh Province, as well as other units and enterprises to grant 400 unique Tet magazines produced by Nhan Dan Newspaper to officials, soldiers and people in the province.

* For January 15 to 17, the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Dong Mo, Son Tay town, Hanoi will organise a chung cake making event to grant traditional chung cakes to the poor to celebrate Tet.
The organisers are expected to present 1,000 gifts, each worth VND500,000, for disadvantaged families, victims of Agent Orange/dioxin and ethnic minorities in remote areas in the provinces of Thanh Hoa, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh and Dien Bien.
* Representatives from 150 poor Vietnamese families living in Phnom Penh received Tet gifts worth a total of US$3,000 from Viettel Cambodia (Metfone) company on January 13.

This year, Metfone decided to present 700 gifts worth US$14,000 to needy Vietnamese people, including 150 in Phnom Penh, 50 in Sihamoukville city, 100 in Kandal, Kampong Chhnang, Battambang, Siem Reap, Kampong Cham provinces. Gift-giving events in localities outside Phnom Penh are scheduled to take place from January 18-22.
