As many as 315,967 children aged 12-14 have been injected with the first shot of COVID-19 vaccine, reaching 80.25% of children in this age group and 289,568 children aged 15-17 have received the first dose of vaccine, equivalent to 95.3% of children in this age bracket.
Hanoi officially launched vaccinations for children aged 15-17 on November 23 and for children aged 14 on November 27 and for children aged 12-13 from November 30.
According to the plan, the city needs to administer about 700,000 children aged 12-17.
About 50 provinces and cities nationwide have injected COVID-19 vaccines for about 5 million children aged 12-17 with more than 1 million children given two shots.
In Ho Chi Minh City, 96.6% of children aged 12-17 have received the first dose of the vaccine and 85.5% of children have received two doses.
Vietnam has so far administered more than 130 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, including nearly 74 million doses of the first shot and more than 55 million doses of the second shot. About 95.6% of Vietnamese adults have received the first shot of the vaccine while 74.2% have received the second shot.
