Hanoi - green city, this name will be mentioned more in the future, when the city solves the problem of environmental pollution. Recently, Hanoi's People's Committee approved the Hanoi Urban Planning Institute's draft on the city's greenery project from 2030 to 2050. Accordingly, the whole core urban area will have 60 parks and flower gardens, of which 18 parks will be newly built and 42 existing parks and gardens will be renovated. To achieve this step, Hanoi has planted 1 million trees to increase the "green area" of the capital.
About 30,000 trees have been planted on roads. This will surely create a new look for the city and attract domestic and international tourists.
Although there are many units involved in the program to plant 1 million trees, the implementation has been monitored in a uniform manner. The Hanoi Green Tree Park Company has selected a number of high value trees that are rare and suitable with the ecological landscape such as purple orchid trees, date palms and oil palms. According to scientists, the factors to be considered when choosing the trees are safety for pedestrians and the trees need to have pretty flowers.
Nguyen Xuan Hanh, Deputy General Director, Hanoi Green Park Limited Company said: We have caring solutions for each type of plant depending on their ecological characteristics. All the trees on the streets, roundabouts, and separators should have good growth.
During the first 6 months of the year the city has grown more than 21,000 urban trees with large diameters and about 9,000 ornamental plants. In the metropolitan area, it is expected to reach an average of 8-10 square meters of tree per person.
