Police identified the incident as a terrorist attack. The attacker died in hospital after he was shot and arrested by police. The police revealed that the attacker was originally from Somalia and came to Australia in the 1990s, but did not reveal his name.
According to the Victorian Police, police was called to reports of a car on fire on the Bourke Street. The attacker stabbed three. One died due to severe injury on the neck and the rest two are still in medical treatment.
