Also, this month’s CPI inched up 2.47% against last year's figure, while the CPI in the January-October period this year expanded 3.71% over the same period last year.
Six of 11 groups of consumer products and services in the basket of items used to calculate the CPI have marked an increase in prices. The education group took the lead, recording a rise of 1.35% following an increase in tuition fees for the 2020-2021 academic school year adopted by nine provinces and cities. The group contributed a 0.08% increase to the overall CPI.
Besides this, housing and construction materials improved 0.29%, a rise attributed to a 1.77% increase in the gas price, a 0.15% rise in the prices of house maintenance materials and a 0.2% increase in house repair costs.
Apart from that, beverages and cigarettes and apparel-headwear-footwear improved 0.08% and 0.06%, respectively, as a result of the rising demand for shopping given the change in weather. The groups of medicine and healthcare services, other commodities and services have registered slight price hikes of 0.01% and 0.09%, respectively.
The groups with price drops in October included culture-entertainment-tourism with 0.18%, food and catering services with 0.13%, transport with 0.08%, affected by the lower price of fuel products, and train tickets and cars and telecommunications with 0.03%.
The only group with no price change was equipment and household appliances.
