According to the Norwegian Seafood Council, the Vietnamese market posted the highest seafood import growth from Norway in Southeast Asia in the 2020 - 2023 period, reaching 113%. This figure surpasses Thailand (103%) and is 4 times higher than the average growth rate of the region (30%).
Since the beginning of 2024, Norway has witnessed an impressive growth in the Vietnamese market with over 21,300 tonnes of seafood, worth about 80 million USD, up 21% in quantity and 28% in value. Vietnam has emerged as an important market for Norwegian seafood.
Norway is currently facing challenges in the global market in the first months of 2024 with a 15% decline in volume and no increase in value. The impressive figures in the Vietnamese market demonstrate the importance of Vietnam as a strategic partner in maintaining and expanding Norway’s seafood exports.
The Norwegian Seafood Council and WinCommerce recently signed a cooperation agreement, officially licensing the use of "Seafood from Norway" brand on all imported seafood product packaging imported from Norway at WinMart supermarket chains nationwide.
