These hundreds of tons of supplies will be used to prepare for the 2016 Lunar New Year (Tet).
Also being sent to the islands are New Year gifts from people all over the country, including cakes, jams, traditional foods, and chưng cake ingredients.
Transporting supplies to the Spratly Islands is an event held every year. The voyage is expected to last 20 days.
