The new ambassador was born in 1958 in Seoul, South Korea and naturalized as a Vietnamese citizen since 2010. He was one of the founders of the South Korea & Vietnam Cultural Exchange Association which promoted friendship and co-operation between the two countries.
South Korea is one of the major markets for Vietnam's tourism with an estimated 2.5 million visitors to Vietnam this year.
