VTV.vn - Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan attended a ceremony on September 11 to unveil a new name plaque for Ho Chi Minh Avenue in the Mozambican capital city of Maputo.

Speaking at the event, Xuan recalled the moment when Samora Machel, the first president of an independent Mozambique, named one of the most beautiful avenues in Maputo after President Ho Chi Minh in 1977.

She noted it as a symbol of the historical bond between the two countries, adding that despite the geographical distance and generational difference, the late leaders of the two countries shared the goal of freedom, equality, democracy and progress for both their people and entire mankind.

The Vietnamese official affirm that the avenue is not only an honour to President Ho Chi Minh but also evidence of the solidarity and friendship between the two countries.

For his part, Maputo Municipal Council President Eneas Comiche expressed his pride in having an avenue named after the Vietnamese national hero and noted that the unveiling of the new name plaque is an opportunity for the two countries’ people to come closer together.

Earlier Xuan had a working session with Eneas Comiche, where the two sides agreed to enhance delegation exchange and cooperation between the two capital cities in the fields of urban construction, management and environmental protection.
