The event brings together eminent parliamentarians, renowned scientists, water experts, researchers and stakeholders, from various sectors.
The three-day event is co-organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the “Rencontres du Vietnam” (Meeting Vietnam) organisation, and the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE).
It aims to facilitate constructive dialogue, knowledge exchange and partnership building, to develop effective strategies and policies to ensure water security for present and future generations.
Addressing the meeting, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai highly appreciated the IPU and ICISE, for hosting the event.
He emphasised that in the context of increasingly negative and unpredictable impacts of climate change, Vietnam attaches great attention to ensuring water security for more than 100 million people, while still being a developing middle-income country.
He called on participating scientists to discuss feasible solutions and experiences in handling the problem.
During the meeting, participants will focus their discussions on various topics such as monitoring water resources; multilateral, regional, and bilateral diplomacy, on water resources for cross-border cooperation; innovating water treatment technology to ensure water source security; and promoting water security through community science.
